GIAF2023

Camilla Alberti focuses on researching and creating alternative scenarios of coexistence and collaboration between species, challenging the anthropocentric paradigm of experience and relationship with the world. On the occasion of GIAF23, the artist presents a new artwork, produced in the city of Gangneung during the month of September. The artist visited places such as Okgye Beach, Hapyeong Beach, and a garbage disposal facility in Gangneung City to collect materials, including discarded objects, industrial waste, and organic fragments. Each of them is a fragment of a ruin, an element capable of telling a story through the traces imprinted on its surface, like the holes left by woodworms and then polished by the sea. All these collected materials were then connected using aluminum wire and plaster bandages. The shapes were organically transformed based on the materials collected each day, harmoniously connecting the whole and the parts. By merging various materials to create sculptures, Camilla Alberti tells us about the interconnectivity of all entities in the world.
