GIAF2023

Dongbu Market was established in 1977 and is situated across Okcheon-dong and Gyo-dong in Gangneung. It stands as one of the oldest permanent markets in Gangneung, alongside Seobu Market. The market comprises shops selling general merchandise, fruits and vegetables, food, and restaurants on its first and second floors. The third and fourth floors house apartments where numerous traders reside, marking it as Gangneung’s initial residential complex. Presently, deliberations are in progress concerning the market’s reconstruction. As a part of GIAF23, vacant spaces and walls within Dongbu Market were repurposed as exhibition spaces.
